Caring for environments through active citizenship

Program

Come with us to explore your local creek or waterway as part of the 'Zero Litter in the Georges River' project, a hands-on initiative developed in partnership with Georges Riverkeeper and the Georges River Environmental Education Centre.

This experience aligns with the new HSIE Stage 1 syllabus focus areas:

  • People care for Australia’s water environments
  • People engage in active citizenship by working together to care for places and each other.

Students will engage in fun activities and games to learn more about water environments; the animals and plants that live in the water, on the shores and surrounding areas and how and why people spend time in these special places. Student will participate in nature connection activites to support wellbeing.

In developing a better appreciation for our waterways students will explain the impacts of litter and work in teams to make a positive difference in caring for their local environment and community.
