Program overview
The People are connected to places excursion is an Early Stage 1 HSIE Geography program introduces students to the importance of Country and the connections we share with land Country, water Country, sky Country and the animals along the Georges River.
Students will become place explorers as they go on an adventure just like Bluey and her friends to explore land, water and sky Country. Using large-scale picture maps students will engage with stories, play fishing games, make a camp in the bush with friends in the parklands along the Georges River. They will meet our many native animals and go dip netting for water animals such as tadpoles, dragonfly nymphs and water striders. The day concludes with ephemeral mapping using loose parts. Through play-based learning they will connect with this special place for people to picnic, play and fish.
Learning intention
- We are learning how people including Aboriginal Peoples care for Country.
- We are learning how people connect with places and each other.
