Overview
Join with us as we strive to achieve 'Zero Litter in Georges River'.
The online lessons and opportunities for students to visit their local Georges River waterway is an initiative developed in partnership with the Georges Riverkeeper and the Georges River Environmental Education Centre.
The lessons connect students with the problem of litter in the Georges River, school students previously engaged with the Zero litter in Georges River project and encourages students to develop their own campaign to share anti-littering messages about zero litter. On completion, students can invite members of the Georges Riverkeeper organisation and staff from the Georges River Environmental Education Centre to share in their success.
We encourage students to visit their local waterway as a way to learn more about water environments. They can discover the animals and plants that live in the water, on the shores and surrounding areas and develop connections to understand how and why people spend time in these special places. In developing a better appreciation for our waterways students will understand the impacts of litter and be encouraged to make a positive difference in caring for their local environment and community.
