Sustainability
The Georges River Environmental Education Centre supports schools to build understanding, awareness, and action around sustainability while helping them meet NSW Government sustainability priorities. We work with schools to embed eco-friendly practices, reduce carbon footprints toward net-zero, and foster biodiversity, with a strong focus on energy, water, waste, and curriculum integration. Our programs align with key NSW initiatives that support whole-school approaches to sustainability and environmental learning.

Excursions and incursions
Sustainability is embedded across multiple KLAs including HSIE and Science and Technology. Find a sustainability excursion or incursion for primary and secondary students in our learning programs menu.
Our partners in sustainability
The Centre is proud to work alongside local partners on projects that protect wildlife, care for Country, and strengthen our community. From building koala and grey-headed flying fox habitat boxes to creating beautiful natural areas in school grounds, reducing litter, and collaborating through the City of Canterbury Bankstown School Program, each project helps students see real-world sustainability in action. These partnerships enrich our learning programs and demonstrate how schools, local organisations, and communities can work together to support a healthier environment for all.
