Program overview
Wombat Stew incursion is a ES1 Science and Technology incursion combining literacy and exploration of natural features in your local school environment. A reading of Wombat Stew by Marcia Vaughan will deliver the hook for learning about living and non-living things in the playground environment and Australian animals and their characteristics.
Students read and recreate the story of Wombat Stew using native Australian puppets, bush plants and bush props. Go for an invertebrate hunt and explore the animal homes you have right in front of your nose! Then hunt for bush treasure in your local school environment, classify items into natural or human made and living or non-living. Explore through sensory play, including a scrunch and sniff activity with special native bush plants and use bush ingredients to make their own “Gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy, Wombat stew!"
The incursion ends with a Wombat Stew sing along!

- We are learning to use verbal and non-verbal language to sequence and recreate texts and experiences.

NSW Department of Education schools $12 per student Non-government schools $18 per student The total cost of the program will be based on the number of students confirmed at least 3 working days before your program. If the number of students is not confirmed by this time, the total cost will be calculated using the number of students listed on the original booking form or the actual number of students who attend, whichever is greater. An Interschool Journal request or sales order will then be prepared and sent to your school for payment. |

Preparation |
Please meet the Georges River EEC staff member/s up to 1 hour before first session. This program contains a large amount of equipment. If possible please provide a car space on level ground in close proximity to the program introduction learning space. Learning spaces – please provide suitable learning spaces for the duration of the program:
