Program overview
The Hunt is an Early stage 1 incursion that will ignite student imaginations as we turn off the lights and step into twilight. A reading of The Hunt by Narelle Oliver will deliver the hook for learning more about nocturnal animals, their features and their secret skills in evading hungry carnivores.
Outside, students will create a habitat garden using natural materials provided by our staff to explore how animals survive in their environment. When a predator is produced students reenact the Hunt using shadow puppets and torches. Tier 2 and 3 language is modelled and students play with synonyms and rhyme. The session concludes with body percussion and a fast-paced food web game.
