Engaging in geographic inquiry in the field, students will investigate the interconnectedness of earth’s natural systems in the remnant forests and waterways of the Georges River.
Students will engage in sensory observation and activities to encourage nature connections to inspire a sense of awe and wonder of the natural world. With curiosity sparked students explore the characteristics of Earth’s natural systems and the factors that affect ecosystem functioning.
Students will use fieldwork equipment to measure abiotic factors of the environment, use water testing equipment to collect primary data on water quality, use sampling methodologies to survey vegetation communities and use field techniques to analyse soil characteristics.
Fieldwork inquiry and the techniques used throughout the day will support the geographical investigation.
Maximum two classes per day.
