Join us as we strive for Zero litter in the Georges River.
Developed in partnership with Georges Riverkeeper and the Georges River Environmental Education Centre this project aligns with syllabus for Stage 1 and 2 HSIE geography and Stage 4 Geography Water in the world.
Online lessons investigate the concepts of water as a resource, litter, stormwater, plastic pollution, ocean degradation and active citizenship. The lessons include hands-on practical investigations including litter audits and mapping exercises to identify stormwater drains. Students will be able to explain the impacts of litter and work in teams to make a positive difference in caring for their local environment through the development of a campaign that strives for Zero litter in the Georges River.
It is recommended that the lessons include a visit to a local water way. Students will learn more about water environments; the animals and plants that live in the water, on the shores and surrounding areas and learn how and why people spend time in these special places. Experiential learning will provide connection to water environments to encourage nature connections that leads to caring.
We offer a variety of incursions and excursions to visit our many creeks, lakes and rivers.
