Step into the science of our shifting planet! In this hands-on incursion, students explore how wind, water and living things slowly shape Earth’s surface over time. Guided through engaging practical investigations, learners experiment with real sandstone and work collaboratively to build miniature river systems that dynamically carve, erode, transport and deposit sediment.
We begin with Aboriginal Dreaming stories that share cultural perspectives on how landforms were created highlighting deep connections to Country. Students examine ochre, discovering how this naturally weathered material forms from ancient rock and how Aboriginal peoples have used it for art and ceremony.
This fast-paced workshop develops curiosity through observation, prediction, teamwork and tactile play.
